Bone Marrow Aspiration is a very useful and under-utilized procedure in small cities and centers is the peripheries. It ‘s basically done to find a cause for anemia, low platelet count and most importantly, rule out blood cancer. It is not possible to diagnose blood-related disorders adequately without this procedure that requires ultimate technical expertise. It has a valuable role in continuous non-responding fevers, where a bone marrow culture can also be done. This procedure is done on day-care basis and patient can be sent back the same day, without any need for general anesthesia.
